The Federal Sports Minister is also the Member for Adelaide - Kate Ellis - you can see her picture on nearly every power pole in Adelaide and inner northern suburbs.

She has dished out HUGE sums of Federal money for Hidden Valley and even Alice Springs plus significant anmounts opf Federal money have gone to support other motorsport complexes across Australia.

We should be asking the Hon Miniser what she is going to get a Labor Federeal Government to do to help bring about a Mortorplex in Adelaide

In fact there is most likely more chance of it happenning if the Federal Labor puts up money

Hi Everyone,

I know it is hard to keep on hearing the words "Be Patient" - these words seem so empty and endless for all the work that has been put into this project to date from all of you! However the positive is that the Negotiations are

continuing - be it at a snails pace! In saying this we must remain positive and hopefully will receive the outcome we sooo dearly want!

I did speak with a Federal member last week and his question to me was - "What is their problem?"

"Good question" I said - "Why don't you ask your State Counterparts?" He assured me he would.

Remember Kate Ellis is the Federal Minister for Sport and Recreation who is not only a South Australian, but also handed over the money for the Hidden Valley upgrade - more importantly she is definitely in a marginal seat, so perhaps look at writing/emailing her, (kate.ellis.mp@aph.gov.au), or at a last resort - VOTE HER OUT! IT IS UP TO YOU!

If the state government has made such a boo boo on the adelaide oval deal, what chance do we have of any type of commitment from them for the motorplex?

I did see something on the news the other day about the government wanting to use some of the land around torrens island as a place to put hazardous waste?.... and we kept being told that it was going to be used for housing.... [:-s ....

news flash...... Mr Rann is going to start listening to the people becasue he nearly lost the election......... What a load of BS =:-

Hidden Valley International dragstrip in Darwin is being upgraded....it is being funded by the federal government to the tune of $3 million, whilst the NT government is chipping in $1.5 million.................C'mon Mr Rann, what are you doing? Pull your finger out and start listening 8-p

I'll try and write this without "tearing up" :P|

1. Not much progress, The Consortium and the Govt are "at the table" working through paperwork.

2. Roc has been a staunch supporter from the start but the slow-down has nothing to do with his health.

3. Please read the title of the page and then think before posting. "Messages of Support" a page designed to show the general public and Government the HUGE amount of POSITIVE support for the project.

Sorry guys, didn't shed one tear ;;)

Glen,

Apreciate all you are doing, along with the rest of the group. I think those who are acting a little impatient need to chill and note that Gov studies etc do take a long time to do. It really is that simple. Something that seems as clear as day to us folk will 100% of the time be as clear as mud to Gov bodies trying to achieve something, eg, Adelaide Oval.

Look at it this way, with all the rain and wind we are having these last few months, construction would have possibly been behind anyway,,so in actual fact, the over all project is moving along right on schedule!! :P)

Stay warm.

NHJ, you are kidding right? If you and your mates want to start unsubstantiated rumours then go ahead.

We will post the facts when and if we can.

No crying going on here.

FYI there are a lot of people (including myself) devoting a lot of their own unpaid time to helping out and pushing the cause forward, spreading lies is just a slap in the face to everyone involved.

Makes you wonder sometimes :-/ :-/ :-/

Great idea to contact Kate Ellis. She is our minister for sport & has got half an idea of what drag racing is - Newsletter reports on the ANDRA website in the last few years shows her handing over wads of fed money to both Alice Springs & Hidden Valley dragstrips.

I do remember a post on this website over a year ago that showed contact was already made with her highlighting our situation, and unfortunately her reply was "sorry cant help with any money" - She obviously didnt get the point of what we were after!

So yes, definitely a good time with an election looming to re-iterate our situation just in case she thinks the issue is dead and buried.

Give me her email address & I'll send her a letter every week!

The decision makers should be reminded that we do live in a DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY and the last time I checked, professional Drag Racing IS NOT ILLEGAL!

So its an injustice to people like us to not be allowed to have a facility to participate in something that we have the freedom to do.

P.S Condolences Anna for your recent loss & best wishes to Roc for his recovery.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I have not been back to you all before now -came down with the dreaded lurgi! I do not have a lot to report except that we are still moving in the right direction. All negotiations still seem to be positive although as you can tell it is taking a long, long time. Everything has to be documented and checked legally at this point - each response to and fro from the LMC is taking up to a fortnight.

So I ask for your continued patience and support and say that we can only hope we will all be rewarded accordingly!

Please continue to leave your comments on this site and Facebook - even still talk to your local Member so that the Pollies are reminded that the enthusiasm is still there for the Motorplex.

I will speak again soon as there is a Federal Election looming which should not be forgotten, considering the Federal Member for Sport and Recreation - Kate Ellis has her seat here in Adelaide and will really need your vote.

NHJan,

Cars would only be crushed if the drivers were being "hoons".

I think you would find that most people who have put their blood sweat and tears not to mention $'s, into their cars, would not be driving like "hoons" because they would be waiting to head out to the ADELAIDE MOTORPLEX 6(^)6 6(^)6 Once again, may I mention that some people have dedicated race cars that cannot be driven on the road and could only be drven at the ADELAIDE MOTORPLEX 6(^)6 6(^)6

if the govt say that the track will be too noisy for neighbours then why not create a residential subdivision for motor sport enthusiasts - just like a marina development but replace the water and boats with bitumen and cars - then the residents can drive their race car along the private access road to the motor sport park - and on a lovely Saturday evening sit back and enjoy the sound of a Top Fueller while cracking a coldie around their BBQ 6(^)6
